SPO for Thayer Teachers

Some Thayer School teachers can now attend the Law Enforcement Training Institute offered by the University of Missouri Extension.   During the March Meeting of the Thayer School Board, members voted to approve that decision.  The 3 week course at the university is the only training center in the state to offer the SPO course. SPO stands for School Protection Officer.  Thayer Schools current has Officer Steve Biffle as their full time School Resource Officer.  The law allows any school district in Missouri to designate at least one high school teacher or elementary teacher who can be trained as an SPO and following the successful completion of the training, those teachers will be legally authorized to carry concealed firearms or self defense spray.
