Thayer Man On Trial in July

A man from Thayer is set to go to trial in July on charges in connection with the death of a 17 year old that indentified as transgender. 25 year old James Grigsby faces charges of abandonment of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence in connection with the death of 17 year old Ally Lee Steinfeld. Steinfeld’s burnt remains were found near the residence of 25 year old Briana Calderas of Cabool. Calderas and 2 others, 19 year old Andrew James Vrba of Houston and 18 year old Isis Schauer of Cabool were charged with 1st degree murder, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse. Calderas and Vrba are still awaiting Trial. Schauer plead guilty to second degree murder and abandonment of a corpse and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The case has caused widespread outrage because of Seinfeld’s identification as transgender.
