A man from Wirth has been sentence to time in prison on several charges. 51 year old Alden Freeman was sentenced to 2 years after pleading guilty to several charges including his 4th and 5th DWI, and aggravated assault to an animal. He was also sentenced to 4 additional years but the sentence was suspended. The Charges stem from an incident involving a horse and an ATV. When Sharp County authorities arrived at the scene, a helicopter was preparing to land at the Wirth fire department, when questioned, medics with Spring River Ambulance Service told them that Freeman was too intoxicated to ascertain his injuries and was being flown to an area hospital for treatment. During the investigation it was determined that Freeman was driving an ATV ranger with a horse tied to the back, and he actually dragged the horse down the road, wrecked the ATV with the horse stuck underneath. Freeman was arrested after receiving treatment at a medical facility and will remain in jail until he can be transferred to the Arkansas Department of Corrections.
