Tim Tebow To Start Triple-A For Mets Organization In 2019

New York Mets minor league outfielder Tim Tebow is expected to start the 2019 season with Class AAA Syracuse, which will be a promotion for the former NFL quarterback. The Mets new general manager Brodie Van Wagenen said at the GM Meetings in Carlsbad, Calif., on Wednesday, “that’s a great next step for him; we’re excited to get him back in camp and hopefully after a trip to Syracuse he’ll be able to prove to us and everybody in baseball that he can make an impact in the big leagues.” The 31-year-old Tebow hit .273 with 6 homers and 36 RBI in 84 games in 2018 for Class AA Binghamton before a broken bone in his right hand required surgery and cut his season short in July.  Tebow signed with Mets in late 2016, played in the Arizona Fall League and in 2017 hit .226 with eight homers and 52 RBI in 126 games at two levels of Class A.
