A teacher in Pocahontas has received a highly touted award. Melodie Murray who teaches math at Pocahontas High School, received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Technology. The award goes to one math teacher and one science teacher in the state and recognizes people who have made significant contributions to mentoring and as a result, supports the future productivity of the science, technology and mathematics workforce. Murray receives a $10,000 reward from the national Science Foundation.
