An Independence County man on parole now faces drug charges after his arrest Saturday. 41-year-old Mervin Sanders was arrested at a residence on Cave Creek Road. Officers found a backpack containing a substance that field tested positive for meth, a large number of clear plastic baggies, a glass smoking device and marijuana. A deputy also discovered more than $3,400 cash. Sanders is charged with two felony counts of possession of meth with the purpose to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is also charged as a habitual offender.
