An Oregon County man who was found dead at his home by a utility worker was a federal fugitive. 87-year-old Larry Cooper lived on a dirt road off highway AA in Alton.  Cooper had been wanted for several years and had not been heard from since escaping a halfway house in 1997. His children had him declared dead in 2006. 80 guns were found at Cooper’s residence, including 60 pistols and 20 rifles. All the guns along with Cooper’s house and 10 acres and a Jeep Cherokee will be sold at public auction on July 10th. Cooper’s 4 adult children will split the proceeds.
