The Mammoth Spring School Board held their monthly meeting last night in the cafeteria.

Student Natalie Lester spoke to the board about what she had been doing in the past few months.

Natalie is the State Agriculture Ambassador.

As the ambassador, she meets with local officials to promote the ag industry across the state, attends fairs and festivals, assists with ag events across the state, and advocate for agriculture.

Another responsibility is to teach classes across the state which include farm-to-table classes with elementary students to teach where food comes from, and also stock shows or camps for those with special needs.

Natalie told us what showing cattle has done for her.

Although Natalie’s term started in July of 2021, she will serve through June 2022.

Other things that were discussed at the Mammoth Spring School Board include considering a custodial resignation, considering student workers, and approving a substitute list, among other topics.

The school did release COVID-19 numbers for the district.

As of Monday, Mammoth Spring reports 14 students and one staff member have tested positive for the virus.

Currently, 12 students are in isolation, and 64 are in quarantine for a total of 76 students currently out.

ACHI reports MSSD is in the “red zone” for cases.
