WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Help Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) and the Grizzly Squad celebrate the new athletic seasons by attending the annual Grizzly Fall Picnic at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 15, in the West Plains Civic Center Exhibit Hall.

A complimentary meal sponsored by Wayward Sons Productions will be served free of charge. A variety of other fun activities also are planned, organizers said.

Grizzly Basketball Head Jared Phay and Grizzly Cheer Team Coach Kirsten McFarland will be on hand to introduce the basketball and cheer team members, respectively, and give previews of the upcoming seasons.

Immediately following the picnic, the Grizzly Volleyball team will host its season home opener against Region 16 arch rival Jefferson College in the civic center arena. Admission to the game also will be free.

All Grizzly fans, not just Grizzly Squad members, are welcome to attend the picnic, organizers said. Those who would like to join the organization may do so that evening. Memberships start at $100.

The Grizzly Squad was formed in 1993 to provide community encouragement and support for the Missouri State University-West Plains Grizzly athletic teams. Funds raised provide for educational scholarships and other vital program needs. Without the work, commitment, and support of the Grizzly Squad, Grizzly Athletics would not be possible, university officials said.
