Fulton County authorities arrest woman who stole furniture from rent home

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a woman on a theft charge. 

According to a probable cause affidavit, a victim reported a theft at her rent house in Gepp. 

The victim stated that 37-year-old Katherine Brotherton was supposed to be renting the pace from her because she needed a place to stay, and the home was furnished with furniture and other household items. 

Brotherton had not paid the rent, and as time went on, the victim attempted to contact Brotherton, and she said that her brother would come and pay it, but never did. 

After texting Brotherton and telling her to collect her items and leave the property. 

On Oct. 18, the victim went to the residence and found that all the furnishings were stolen along with the linens. 

The victim then compiled a list of items and brought it to the Sheriff’s Office. 

On Oct. 21, Sergeant William Faucet gained information of the property’s location, and it was in Howell County. 

On Oct. 22, Investigator Buddy Thompson, Luitenant Jake Smith, and Sergeant Faucet went to the residence in Howell County, and the homeowner said that Brotherton had brought the furniture there and stored it on the property. 

The landowner permitted a search of the trailer, and that’s when the items were identified. 

The total cost of items totaled $1,015. 

Brotherton now faces a felony theft of property charge for more than $1,000 but less than $5,000. 

Her bond was set at $2,500.
