West Plains School Resource Officer facing charges after sexual relations with student

The Howell County Sheriff’s Office and West Plains School District said on Friday that a resource officer had been arrested for a sexual offense with a student. 

The officer was identified as Rob Pilkington and was employed with the Sheriff’s Office, and was stationed at South Fork Elementary. 

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Pilkington had committed sexual offenses with a student, but the student was not learning at the South Fork location. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested Pilkington on Thursday evening and will face charges of 1st-degree statutory rape. 

It was also said that he had been fired from the Sheriff’s Office. 

Pilkington has been employed through the Sheriff’s Office for more than 25 years and served at South Fork for 7. 

The West Plains School District will cooperate with the Sheriff’s Office investigation.
