One person was injured in a shooting in Ripley County last week

According to reports the Sheriff’s Office received a call around 9 pm on January 11th from a resident on Highway 21 south of Doniphan. When they arrived they were told that An adult female had arrived at her residence and saw a male subject on her property near a mobile home next to her residence. She called her adult son and both began looking for the subject while armed. When they confronted the subject, he allegedly reached under his jacket and pulled out an object that they said looked like a handgun. The subject began to point the object towards them and the son stated that being in fear for his life and his mother’s life, he shot towards the subject six times and the subject fell to the ground. The object turned out to be a battery-powered hand drill The subject was shot in the arm and torso and was taken to a St Louis hospital. At this time no arrests have been made in the shooting. No names have been released.
