Dates for Grizzly Basketball Summer Camps set

WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Dates for the Grizzly Basketball Summer Camps have been set.

The regular camp for boys and girls in eighth grade and under will be June 19-21. The elite camp for seventh through 12th-grade boys and girls will be June 22-23.

The camps are being hosted by Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay, Assistant Coaches Braxton Williams and Walt Belcher, and members of the Grizzly Basketball team.

 

Details for the regular camp

Participants will learn basketball fundamentals for all aspects of the game during the three-day regular camp, Phay said.

Campers have the option of attending one of three sessions:

  •           the morning session from 9 a.m. to noon
  •           the afternoon session from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
  •           the all-day session from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

All sessions will be divided into groups based on the participants’ skill levels, Phay said, adding the camps are open to all youths of every ability, Phay said.

All equipment for the camps will be provided, with the exception of personal attire. Campers are encouraged to bring their own ball with their name on it, but a ball can be provided if needed.

Participants also should bring their own water bottles, and those who are participating in the all-day camp should bring their own sack lunch.

Each camper will receive a free T-shirt.

The cost of attending the morning or afternoon sessions is $95; the cost to attend the all-day camp is $175. Registration must be submitted prior to June 19 for these rates to apply.

Those who sign up for the first day of camp will pay $110 for the morning or afternoon sessions or $190 for the all-day camp. A free T-shirt cannot be guaranteed for those who sign up the first day of camp.

 

Details of the Elite camp

Participants in the elite camp, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day, will build on skills learned in the regular camp to develop elite skills of the game, Phay said.

All equipment for the camps will be provided, with the exception of personal attire. Campers are encouraged to bring their own ball with their name on it, but a ball can be provided if needed.

Participants also should bring their own water bottles and sack lunch.

Each camper will receive a free T-shirt.

The cost for this camp is $140 if you register by June 21.

Registrations taken after that date on the first day of camp will cost $175. In addition, a free T-shirt cannot be guaranteed for those who sign up on the first day of camp.

Spaces are limited for all of the camps, so early registration is strongly encouraged.
