On Tuesday the PD was contacted by a subject who advised of a Scam involving Chief Ellison. Apparently, he was called and told that he had a warrant for Drug Trafficking and Money Laundering from Mexico to Texas. He was advised that the Chief would be contacting him to work something out. He talked to several people, who claimed to be with US Marshals Office, Drug Enforcement, and Someone claiming to be Chief Ellison. The subject admitted to being of Yemen descent and wanted BitCoin and other money forms to take care of the situation. They had even “Ghosted” the PD phone number, so when he called back, it went to them.
Please be aware of these Types of Scams, and DO NOT SEND ANYONE MONEY! Rest assured that is not how the legal system works. If you have questions or doubts, please call your local Law Enforcement.
