Ozarks Pet Rescue in West Plains says growing medical bills may have them turning animals away in the future. In just five years, the Ozarks Pet Rescue has taken care of more than 10,000 dogs, cats, and other pets. Ozarks Pet Rescue prioritizes what they call ‘medical cases’ when taking in animals; that’s dogs, cats, and others who may have been abandoned, diseased, or worse. Ozarks Pet Rescue posted on Facebook that they had run up a $23,000 bill at a local veterinarian. The highest the bill has ever been in its five-year history. Due to more calls for help and a decrease in donations, it is making it hard to pay the medical debt. Ozarks Pet Rescue has planned out fundraising events throughout the year, but their biggest form of support comes from recurring monthly donors, and they’re asking the local community to help support their mission.
