The St. Louis Cardinals couldn’t complete the sweep of the Reds at Great American Ballpark on Sunday.  Carlos Martinez, making his second start since coming of the disabled list lasted just 3 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs while walking 7 and hitting a batter.  The Cards had beaten the Reds in 13 straight before the loss yesterday.

The Cards are back at Busch tonight with the San Diego Padres in town.

The Kansas City Royals dropped into last place in the American League Central division over the weekend, as they wrapped up a disastrous west coast trip.  Yesterday they lost to the Oakland A’s 3-2.  KC will have an off day today, and open a series with the Reds at Kauffman on Tuesday.
