AR Governor Asa Hutchinson has established a new school safety commission to examine all conditions at all AR schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade and then plans on discussions to take place with local school staff and facility on how to improve school safety for everyone. Governor Hutchinson stated that this is not a gun control effort; this is a safety plan to include communications, readiness, response and training in case of a crisis. A plan is to be provided to the governor by July 1st. The governor is also working on a Work Requirement for Medicaid Recipients. He says this isn’t punishment, it’s opportunity. It’s pending in the state Legislature.
