The deadly TV tower collapse near Fordland claimed the life of 56 yr old Steve Lemay. He was one of a 7 person crew from Washington State contracted to work on the tower which collapsed yesterday morning without warning. Several of the crew was more than 100 feet high when the tower fell, others were injured but not seriously. The tower is owned by Ozarks Public Television KOZK and its collapse also took out the NOAA Weather Radio broadcast from the National Weather Service from Springfield. Its transmitter was on the tower. The weather service is working to re-establish connection for warnings but for the time being other NOAA Weather radio stations are providing backup for much of the area previously covered by the Fordland broadcast. 13 MO Counties have lost that connection the ones in our listening area include Douglas & Webster Counties. Webster…….No alternative transmitter
Wright……..No alternative transmitter
The National Weather Service states that tornado warnings will continue to be issued through cell phones, per your location. However, this service will not send warnings such as severe thunderstorms.
