Reason for Stabbing Death Released

The stabbing death of a Horseshoe Bend man Sunday is alleged to have happened due to an argument and name calling by the victim toward the suspect.    Sunday afternoon Izard County Deputies responded to a 911 call from the Gorby Community near Calico Rock.  The caller told dispatch someone had been stabbed.  When deputies and emergency personnel arrived they discovered 29 yr old Joseph Stefka with a stab wound to his chest. Stefka was pronounced dead at the Calico Rock Medical Center. The suspect in the stabbing,  22 yr old Cydney Taylor from Dolph was arrested at the scene and charged with 1st Degree Murder. Taylor is alleged to have told authorities that Stefka was calling her names and she pulled a knife from a kitchen knife block and stabbed him. Taylor is also alleged to have told police that Stefka did not attack her. Cydney Taylor is being held in the Izard County Jail in lieu of a $200,000 bond.  First Degree Murder is a classy felony and punishable by 10 to 40 yrs or even life in prison.
