April 29th, 2017- one year ago –  a date that many will never forget.  That was the day that rain was falling and did not stop until flooding devastated so many in our listening area and beyond. Thomasville and Van Buren were nearly washed away, homes, businesses-gone.  West Plains saw flood waters unseen in our lifetime. But one thing stood out after all the waters receded back into the banks of the rivers. I traveled to Thomasville shortly after the flood and found Oregon County Sheriff Eric King helping pump water from the basement of one home that was not completely destroyed. Here’s that conversation from that day:

It’s been a long year and the struggle continues for many but one think is for sure-folks around here don’t give up and neighbors helping neighbors is just how it’s done.
