A Houston Missouri Teen, who as sent to prison for her role in the brutal death of another teen, wants a review of her conviction by the court. Isis Schauer was sentenced to 20 years in December and is currently serving that term at the state prison in Vandalia. Shauer entered a guilty plea to second degree murder and abandonment of a corpse. Shauer and three others were charged in the death of 17 year old Joseph Steinfeld, who relatives say was transgender and went by the name Ally. Last week a motion was filed in Texas county circuit court, claiming Shauer had ineffective counsel and her plea was not voluntary or knowledgeable. Shauer was pregnant at the time and claims she had no trial preparation or investigation into her case, she cites: no fingerprints, her alibi was not examined and video at a hospiptal would prove it. Her attorney only told her what would happen if her case went to trial, she said elements of the case were not known to her. The Public defender’s system has 10 days to enter an attorney to represent Shauer or secure an alternate counsel.
