A commercial building caught fire Tuesday in Independence County. According to Southside Fire Chief Jeremy Loggins, someone was working to put in a mechanic shop on one side of the building. Loggins said the occupants were cleaning up outside and burning stuff when the wind started blowing and caught the building on fire. Half of the building was destroyed. The occupants were able to get the vehicles out of the shop before they caught on fire. The Southside, Batesville, and Desha fire departments responded to the scene.
