A Man from Thayer who was charged with first degree abandonment of a corpse pleaded guilty Tuesday and was sentenced to 4 years in Prison. 26 year old James Grigsby was charged for his role in the September 2017 death of 17 year old Joseph Steinfeld. He entered a guilty plea during a pre-trial conference and was subsequently sentenced by Circuit Judge Bill Hickle. Grigsby was among four people charged in the death of Steinfeld, who went by Ally and was transitioning to female, according to relatives. Two co-defendants – Andrew Vrba and Briana Calderas – are awaiting trial. Another person, Isis Schauer, also entered a guilty plea but is seeking to have her 20-year sentence set aside.
