The fate of the jailers who were working the night three inmates escaped from the Sharp County jail has been decided. The inmates escaped from the jail on July 11 and were back in custody by the end of that week.  Sheriff Mark Counts said the jailers had failed to do head counts the night of the escape, and they didn’t know the inmates had escaped until the next morning.  The jailers have been on administrative leave pending the investigation of the escape.  The decision to fire the jailers was officially decided on Thursday.  Sheriff Counts said that as of Thursday, all three inmates are in custody of the Sharp County jail, and have all been charged with escape.  The trustee that helped the inmates escape has also been charged as an accomplice.
