
The St. Louis Cardinals win in “walk off” fashion last night. Down 4-0 to the Colorado Rockies, after a Nolan Arenado grand-slam in the 5th inning, the Redbirds began chipping away. Jed Gyorko hit a solo homer in the 5th, Harrison Bader walked with the bases loaded and Matt Carpenter had a 2-run single to tie the game in the 7th. The game remain tied into the bottom of the 10th until Marcell Ozuna launched a pitch over the wall in left for the walk off win.
The victory pulls the Cards within 7 ½ game of the lead in the N.L. Central and just 4 out in the wild-card. The Cards and Rockies play again tonight at Busch.
*Cardinal pitcher Carlos Martinez was removed from the game last night in the 5th inning with a strained right shoulder.
The Kansas City Royals open a 3 game series with the White Sox in Chicago tonight. Danny Duffey gets the start for KC.
