The St. Louis Cardinals drop game 2 of their 4 game set with the Colorado Rockies last night at Busch. The Redbirds got off to a fast start when Matt Carpenter homered to lead off the game, setting a new team record for lead-off home runs in a career, breaking the old record of 21 set by Hall of Famer Lou Brock. But the Rockies scored 2 in the 5th, 6th and 7th innings to seal the win.
The Cards and Rockies play game 3 of the series tonight at Busch.
**prior to the game, the Cardinals announced that pitcher Carlos Martinez is going back to the Disabled list with a shoulder strain and could miss up to 4 starts.
