Baxter County Airport Receives Federal Funding

The Baxter County Airport in Midway is one of 37 airports in Arkansas to receive federal funding to make improvements. It was announced Monday the Federal Aviation Administration is awarding $9.64 million in airport infrastructure grants to airports across the state The Baxter County Airport is receiving $199,006 to install a taxiway lighting system. The largest grant in Arkansas went to the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock which was for over $3.2 million for multiple projects. The grants are part of $3.18 billion in Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding this year for projects across the nation. Airports receive a certain amount of AIP entitlement funding each year based on activity levels and project needs.
