The St. Louis Cardinals knocked off the Pittsburgh Pirates behind the pitching of rookie Jack Flaherty and the bat of Matt Carpenter on Sunday afternoon. Carpenter hit a solo hom-run, his 29th of the season, which leads the National League, as the Redbirds win the game 2-1, and the series 2-1. The series win was the 3rd straight for the Cards, and pulls them 6 ½ back in the NL Central, 4 out in the Wildcard race. The Cardinals continue their road trip tonight at Miami.
