A Fulton County Deputy was stuck by a drug needle while searching the vehicle of a woman he stopped after receiving a report from a caller saying that a woman and a man were en routs between Glencoe and Salem and exhibited signs of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The deputy stopped the vehicle driven by 32 year old Marissa Beard. There were four children in the back seat. Beard allegedly told the officer that she did not have a drivers license. After Beard failed a field sobriety test, the officer initiated a search of the vehicle. He discovered several needles testing positive for meth, inside a diaper bag, the officer located a blue bag he opened and was stuck by one of the needles, causing his finger to bleed. In addition to four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, Beard was charged with felony possession of drug paraphernalia and 4 misdemeanors. Her bond was set at $15,000.
