A former Shannon County deputy is jailed after investigators say he had sexual relations with an inmate. 41 year old Richard Lee O’Dell, of Alton, Mo., faces four counts of sexual contact with a prisoner. The charges date back to a period from October 25-November 5, 2016. Investigators say the woman shared her story with them last month. She told authorities while she was incarcerated, O’Dell would come into her cell. She explained O’Dell would traded her a gram of methamphetamine for sexual favors. She said the acts themselves happened in the shower where there was not a camera. Investigators say a witness also backed up here story. The witness told authorities O’Dell tampered with surveillance video to destroy evidence of him entering the cells. The Shannon County sheriff fired O’Dell in 2017. A judge set bond at $75,000.
