The St. Louis Cardinals continue to hold on to the #2 Wild Card spot in the race to the MLB Playoffs. The Cards managed to avoid a sweep with a 5-2 at Detroit yesterday. They remain 2 games ahead of the Dodgers and just 1 ½ game behind Milwaukee in the playoff race.
The Redbirds open a series the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight at Busch, with Adam Wainwright on the hill. Wainwright is returning from an injury and could be a big boost to the pitching staff down the stretch.
The Kansas City Royals took a loss yesterday in Minnesota. The Twins won the game on a 2-run walk-off home-run in the 9th 3-1. KC will return the Kauffman and open a series with the Chicago White Sox tonight.
