The St. Louis Cardinals pounded the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-5 at Busch Stadium last night. Leading 5-1, the Cards tacked on 6 runs in the 8th inning to seal the win. Tyler O’Neill hit a 3-run homer and Marcell Ozuna had 3 RBI’s for the Redbirds as Miles Mikolas earned his 15th win, going 7 innings and giving up just 1 run. The Cardinals go for the sweep of the Pirates today at Noon.
The Cards now have a 3 game lead over the Dodgers in the Wild Card race, and trail Chicago by 3 1/2 in the NL Central.
The Kansas City Royals beat the Chicago White Sox at Kauffman 6-3. The Royals and Chi-Sox play again tonight in KC.
