The St. Louis Cardinals race to the playoffs got a little tighter last night, as the Redbird Bullpen couldn’t hold a lead and the Cards lost to the Milwaukee Brewers. Trailing 3-1 in the 6th the Cards got a home-run from Jose Martinez, then a walk, and a 2-run bomb from Marcel Ozuna to take a 4-3 lead, but the bullpen gave up solo tallies to the Brewers in the 7th, 8th and 9th. With the loss, the Cards remain 41/2 games behind Chicago in the NL Central, drop 3 games behind Milwaukee in the Wildcard race, and their lead in the race for the #2 Wildcard spot is now just ½ game over Colorado. The Cardinals and Brewers play again tonight at Busch.
The Kansas City Royals will be back in action after an off day yesterday. The Royals are in Cinncy to play the Reds.
