The West Plains City Council has approved the hiring of a new Chief Of Police and the selection of an interim Planning manager. Steven Monticelli was chosen as the new Chief Of Police. Monticelli is a 37 year law enforcement veteran and was most recently the Chief of Police in Harrisonburg Virginia which has a population of $54,000. As the chief he oversaw 112 officers, 20 auxillary officers and 26 civilian personnel. Prior to that he spend 32 years in law enforcement in Columbia Missouri. Will Atkinson was selected as the interim Planning Manager for West Plains. Atkinson has served as an information Systems Administrator for the City since 2016. He worked as a Traffic Systems data Analyst for Liedos information technology applications analist for Ozarks Medical Center and spent 9 years as a transportation planner for MODOT.
