Ex-Texas County Sheriff James Sigman and his former Chief Deputy Jennifer Tomaszewski were in Texas County court Friday morning, where a new indictment was read to Sigman and his attorney The indictment is for felony forgery and it was filed Thursday. Friday morning Sigman’s attorney and the special prosecutor discussed with judge John Beger other motions in the case including a long discussion regarding the video accusing a trooper and the jail nurse of going through an inmates file and reportedly taking it out of the jail. Prosecuting attorney Don Trotter says the new indictment for felony forgery was skipped over and should’ve been added the the list of grand jury indictments back in July. Sigman’s attorney, Jason Coatney, says Sigman crossed Tomaszweski’s daughter’s name off a jail sheet and initialed next to it. Coatney says the sheet is for jail staff to keep records on where they have been in the jail and the girl’s name was wrongly put on the sheet by jail staff. The video reportedly showing investigators and the jail nurse mishandling an inmates file was heavily discussed. The prosecution seeks the entire video which is at least 9 hours long because the defense entered only a three minute edited portion of the video to the court in August. The next court date is set for November 20th.
