The Zizzer Speech and Debate team competed at the Lee’s Summit West/North invitational tournament on Friday November 2nd and Saturday November 3rd. As a team we placed 16th place overall out of 34 schools. This was a great result because we only had 1/3rd of our team competing and this is one of the toughest tournaments in the state. The following Varsity students competed at Lee’s Summit North and made it into the final round in their event: Justin Cotter placed 3rd in Lincoln Douglas Debate and 4th in international extemporaneous, Sarah Gill placed 6th in Original Oratory, and Faith Schilmoeller placed 1st in informative Speaking. Kendra Sanders and Allissah Cunningham made it into the Semi-final round in duo interpretation. At the novice tournament at Lee’s Summit West the following novice placed in the final round: Jack Land placed 2nd in storytelling and Olivia Beard placed 4th in storytelling. Megan Rockwell and Greg Romans made it into the semifinal round in duo interpretation.
