A rare, bright red fungus has been found in Cherokee Village. The trametes cinnabarina is a polypore fungus that is not edible. Diann Dennis, a certified master naturalist, said the fungus is found during the fall season in Arkansas. Dennis found the fungi while exploring the woods. While they may be pretty to look at, Dennis says they are not for eating. She says people need to educate themselves on the different types of fungi and what they can eat.
