A man from Ava faces several charges after and incident on a county road Friday. 47 year old Justin Coonts met a deputy on a county road and allegedly would not share the road, the deputy followed hi to a driveway on county road 303, where Coonts got out of the vehicle and started cussing the deputy. Coonts was handcuffed and K9 Yadi was deployed and positively alerted on the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, a capsule containing meth was located as well as a loaded firearm. Coonts was held for 24 hours the Sheriff then applied for a search warrant on his residence and was granted one. During the search of the residence the Sheriff’s office located and seized 5 grams of additional meth as well as numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia, guns, and 2 illegally harvested deer. Coonts is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, 2 felony counts of unlawful possession of a firearm. Bond was set at $20,000
