Mountain Home Man Escapes From Moving Patrol Car

A Mountain Home man who was shackled and handcuffed in the back of a patrol unit escaped, but caught a short time later. 38 year old Charles Lutz was being taken to the North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison for medical attention. The Patrol unit was following a vehicle that was allegedly weaving between traffic lanes and into ditch. They begin following the car and alerted authorities in Boone County. When they slowed to allow Boone County authorities to stop the vehicle, Lutz open the door of the patrol unit and jumped from the moving vehicle. Lutz was charged with commercial burglary and breaking or entering, and misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, theft, resisting arrest and public intoxication. He is being held in Marion County Jail on $25,000 bond. A felony count of escape has been added to the charges with bond of $10,000.
