Area Elementary Schools Collect More Than 13,000 Items For Hunger Hero

The Hunger Hero Campaign wrapped up last Friday at our local schools, with students in Thayer, Mammoth Spring, Koshkonong, Couch and Alton collecting more than 13,000 items for the area food pantries. Yesterday several of the winning classes had pizza parties, ECNN’s Kevin Gorsky was there

The area elementary schools did great. Mammoth Spring Elementary School won the traveling trophy collecting almost 7,000 items. Janet Smoot’s Pre-school class collected 1,065 items and won the Pizza Party at Mammoth Spring School. Thayer Elementary School collected 3,027 items and Ms. Massey’s 5th grade collected the most their collecting 565 items, Koshkonong School collected a little over 2,000 items with Mrs. Roberts class winning there by collecting 757 items. Couch School collected 878,  Heather Lewis’ 6th grade collected the most items at Couch School. Alton School collected 730 items and Mrs Sanders 2nd grade class collected the most at Alton School.

The Hunger Hero campaign continues through Friday FNBC in Mammoth Spring.
