An attorney for the former Flippin Police Chief accused of taking more than $63,000 while he was chief has asked for a continuance in the case. 40 year old Dusty Smith was in court in Marion County Wednesday and appeared before Judge John Putman. According to reports, Putman did not seemed pleased with the request. The case has been continued 4 times already. If Putman denies the continuance, the case would go to trial January 22nd. Smith faces a charge of class B felony theft. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and he could also face a fine of $15,000 plus be ordered to pay restitution.
