Contact lenses are worn by about 45 million Americans but an alarming new report in the Annals Of Emergency Medicine, details the cases of people who’ve slept in their contacts and ended up with eye emergencies including ulcers and perforated corneas. The New report shows it’s easier to end up in the Emergency room than you think, one patient  needed a transplant to save his right eye. Study Author Dr John Femling with the university of New Mexico School Of Medicine.

The Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, a partner in developing the report, estimates that a million people each year seek treatment for bacterial infections of the cornea associated with improper wear or care of contact lenses.
