The latest Government shutdown is having an affect on one of our local parks. Each year the Mammoth Spring State Park drains the lake during the Winter to kill vegetation that grows on top of the water. Due to the shutdown the federal fish hatchery is closed not allowing them to prepare by cleaning out the intake reservoir where the water enters the pipeline. Officials say that because of the shutdown of the government the lake will not be drained this year.
