The Baxter County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a man Monday in southern Baxter County. 53 year old Gregory Alan Cherry was found near the river about a quarter mile from his house. Authorities believe he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Around 5 Monday morning, the Sheriff’s Department was called and asked to perform a welfare check on Cherry at a house of Stone Creek Road. His Wife reported that he had left their home in Fayetteville on Sunday evening heading to their vacation house in Baxter County. The Body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office in Little Rock for an autopsy.
