Missouri wants to be a national leader in computer science. A state joint

committee met Monday  to discuss ways to improve computer science

education and strengthen the workforce.  Dr. Kevin Gwaltney is the executive director of the committee. He says education should be balanced and while we still need liberal arts education, more Missouri schools should offer computer science courses.

Officials are working on new state standards for computer science education  as well as teacher certification in the subject for the 2019-20

school year. They are also seeking money for a newly created state

fund.
