A former West Plains resident is dead after reportedly shooting himself at the end of a lengthy police chase through three Missouri Counties on Tuesday. 35 year old Travis Mackey of St Charles Missouri, formerly from West Plains, was involved in a chase that spanned 50 miles and went through St Charles, Warren and Montgomery counties. Mackey was wanted for aggravated stalking and resisting arrest charges. Mackey’s vehicle hit a patrol car and came to a stop in the median. When Officers approached the vehicle they reported that Mackey had a handgun in each hand pointed at himself. Mackey was pronounced dead at the scene.
