A former volunteer chaplin at the Marion County jail has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on sex related charges. 47 year old Scotty Joe Skaggs of Summit was found guilty of first and second degree sexual assault and sexual indecency with a child. The Marion County jury deliberated for 3 and a half hours before returning with a guilty verdict. Skaggs was sentenced to 20 years for first degree sexual assault, 10 years for second degree sexual assault and 5 years for sexual indecency with a child with the sentences to run concurrently.
