Two men accused of stealing a U-Haul have been charged. 44 year old Robert Abbott of West Plains and 28 year old Odie Belt of Caulfield are charged with stealing a motor vehicle and stealing $750 or more. Abbott faces additional charges of stealing $750 or more in another case. The U-Haul was stolen from the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express Parking lot. there was a Kawassaki Vulcan Motorcycle on the U-Haul. Both were recovered. Abbott has a history of criminal activity. In 2013 he was convicted in Oregon County for tampering with a motor vehicle and sentenced to 6 years in prison. He is currently awaiting trial in Howell County on the same charges from 2016, and two more cases recently filed.
