A man from Cabool died from a self-inflicted gunshot after he was involved in a chase and shootout with police. Authorities say 42 year old Barry Wedge shot himself. The incident happened around midnight Friday when an officer in Cabool attempted to stop him. Wedge led multiple police agencies on a chase at speeds up to 50 MPH, During the chase Wedge allegedly shot at police and they returned fire. The chase ended in Vanzant where Wedge died from a single gunshot wound to the head. A Douglas County Deputy and two Cabool police Officers are on standard paid-administrative leave as the investigation continues.
