The Texas Rangers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 7-3 on Friday night. Miles Mikolas (4-4), facing his former team for the first time, gave up nine hits and seven runs in 1 1/3 innings, the shortest outing in 52 starts for his career. The Cardinals dropped to 4-12 since May 1, when they had the best record in the majors.
Cardinals: RHP Dakota Hudson (2-3, 4.61 ERA) is set for his first start against an AL West team.
Kicking off a brief five-game road trip, the Royals took on the Los Angeles Angels for a three-game set. Handing the ball to right-hander Brad Keller, the Kansas City offense would face Matt Harvey for the second time this season. Struggling to find the zone once again, Keller’s rough second inning proved fatal in the long run, resulting in a game one loss, 5-2.
Jakob Junis will be asked to halt the three-game slide. Los Angeles will go with Griffin Canning. First pitch is another late one at 9:07 CT.
